National Heart Gallery Exhibit
The National Heart Gallery Exhibit was launched in honor of National Adoption Month on November 1st, 2011 on Capitol Hill in Washington DC to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Heart Gallery project. The National Heart Gallery Exhibit was created by Heart Gallery NYC in partnership with Casey Family Programs and the Freddie Mac Foundation, and included the participation of 50 Heart Galleries across the nation. The National Heart Gallery Exhibit opening event on Capitol Hill was well attended by U.S. politicians, as well as prospective families, and helped to raise awareness of the need for “forever families” for the more than 100,000 waiting children in foster care across our country. After the Washington DC Opening Launch, the exhibit was on display in the Russell Senate Office Building Rotunda, and then traveled throughout the United States with exhibition sites in Virginia, New York, Indiana, Iowa, South Carolina and New York. The beautiful Heart Gallery photos of children in need of "forever families" touched the hearts of everyone who viewed them, recruiting families and raising awareness of the children’s needs to millions nationwide.
