Heart Gallery NYC Finding Forever Families for Children in Need

Great portrait photography captures the very essence of its subject, somehow conveying exactly who that person is through a single image...and instantly connecting the viewer to them emotionally. That is precisely what Heart Gallery NYC does for children in foster care who are in need of permanent adoptive families. The organization utilizes top name professional photographers who volunteer to photograph kids in care. The photos are then blown-up and mounted in exhibitions throughout the metropolitan area – complete with recruitment tables manned by trained staff and volunteers.

Heart Gallery was originally launched in 2001 by Diane Granito, a foster and adoptive parent recruiter with the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department. In 2006, Laurie Sherman Graff, herself an adoptive parent, brought the program to New York City after seeing an article about it in Parade Magazine.
