04/28/2009 HEART: Photo Exhibit Shines Light on Foster Kids THESE PICTURES are worth more than 1,000 words. A special photo exhibit at the Bronx Borough President’s Art Gallery debuted last week, featuring 50 “hard-to-place” foster children in need of permanent homes. The hope is that the photographs will move viewers to adopt one of the youngsters, said Laurie Sherman Graff, who heads Heart Gallery NYC and helped organize the exhibit. “Our goal is to get the word out about all these kids who need homes,” Graff said. “We’re hoping to find families for these kids, as well as mentors.” Heart Gallery NYC worked with professional photographers to showcase the children at different venues throughout the city. This effort is a first in the Bronx. For more see NY Daily News article by Tanyanika Samuels |
